The Makita Academy was created as a means for the Makita dealer and their respective sales staff to get to know the product they are selling a bit better and thus, giving them an advantage when dealing with the end-user. The course involves three days of theory and practical, covering the entire Makita power tool range. The person giving the actual lesson is an employee of Makita who has a "Buddy" position, meaning they have invaluable product knowledge. Most of the "Buddy" employees have attended the Makita Masters training course in Australia.

The 'hands on' experience plus the theory has led to people becoming more familiar and confident when selling Makita Power Tools. This has seen increased sales and profits.
